Simplilearn – one of the largest professional certifications company – is an online education portal providing professional certification training. Based in Scotts Valley, California, USA, the company was founded by Krishna Kumar in 2009. He posted free video lessons and a practice test there; since then, the site has gained more than 450,000 users from 150 plus countries and is growing by leaps and bounds.

EduKart

Started in 2011 by Ishan and Mayank Gupta with only a handful of certification courses, EduKart has now evolved into a leading education marketplace, offering students a platform to enroll into more than 2,500 courses in degree, diploma, certificate, entrance coaching and K12 categories. EduKart has enabled students to access global education. It also offers certificate courses in areas of retail, finance, telecom, digital marketing, programming languages, project management, and IT. The Sanskrit words Veda (knowledge) and Tantu (network) have crafted the company’s name, Vedantu. The start-up operates on a marketplace model for volunteer/ freelance tutors, wherein aspiring students can browse, search or choose to learn from preferred online tutors of their choice. The online platform has rich content of 21,000 hours of live learning available to over 17,000 students.

Unacademy

It is indeed an inspiration when one of the youngest IAS officers leaves his position of authority and reputation and peruses his passion for imparting education. This is the story of Unacademy, an online portal which provides free educational content to civil service aspirants in 2013. The portal provides free educational material to aspiring students through its website and also streams video tutorials updated periodically. More than 2 lakh students study on this portal as subscribers to the channel. The disruptive start up has raised a $500,000 seed round of funding.
